Bitter & Famous

This cocktail is an americano–negroni–style flavour combination brought to life with a splash of soda.

Ingredients:

  • 25 ml homemade blood orange syrup
  • 20 ml Mezcal
  • 20 ml Red vermouth
  • 20 ml Sparkling water
  • Orange zest

Instructions:

Prepare the orange syrup: either simply mix a 1:1 ratio of blood orange juice & sugar (or refular orange if the blood orange is not in season). Or do the following for extra twang: zest the orange and save the zest, juice the orange. Mix the zest with sugar and keep overnight. Add the juice the next day, stir until everything is dissolved and strain out the peels.

Stir your orange syrup, mezcal and vermouth with ice. Strain into a highball glass with ice. Top off with sparkling water. Garnish with orange zest
